Riverside is a historic city. Over 80% of Riverside’s historic destinations are in Ward 1–but some of these sites still need documenting. The Ward 1 office, in partnership with the Old Riverside Foundation and Riverside Historical Society, is kicking off a charge to identify and improve monuments and historic markers throughout the city to better catalog and respect our past.
We started last week by restoring the remaining portion of this 1939 monument to Riverside’s longest-serving superintendent—Arthur Wheelock—by RCC and need your help to track down all our city’s similar historic plaques and markers. (This effort does not include our already cataloged city landmarks.)
